Keeping the conversation going: a free-to-partners CPD session for Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week 2026 runs from Monday 16 to Friday 20 November, and this year's theme from the Anti-Bullying Alliance is "Break the Silence". It's a theme about talking: creating spaces where children and young people feel safe to speak, and where they're heard when they do.

As core members of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, we wanted to mark the week with something practical for the adults who hold those spaces every day. So on Tuesday 17 November we're running a bonus online CPD session: Body Respect: Keeping the Conversation Going.

Why conversation?

Discussion and exploratory talk are a huge part of how we work. Our workshops don't hand children a list of rules. They give them room to question, disagree, listen and come to their own conclusions. That's what makes our work relational, and it's why it works as culture change rather than a one-off lesson.

Respectful conversations build a culture of body respect. And a culture of body respect is one of the ways schools can tackle appearance-related bullying before it starts.

But we know that facilitating a conversation on body image can feel like a daunting ask. Teachers worry about saying the wrong thing, about a comment landing badly, or about a discussion drifting somewhere they didn't plan. That's exactly what this session is for.

What happens in the session

Led by Emma Leeson, the 45-minute session draws on Philosophy for Children (P4C). You'll look at how to set up the conditions for a good conversation, including group agreements built on respect, kindness and empathy. Then you'll practise four simple questions that keep a discussion going without steering it.

You'll try them out on the kind of open questions we use with pupils and leave with one thing to try in your classroom the next day.
